Students applying for the law enforcement academy are tested on basic writing and reading skills. The ASSESSMENT Writing Skills Test measures a student’s understanding of standard written English including punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, strategy, organization and style. The ASSESSMENT Reading Skills Test measures reading comprehension. Each test is 25 minutes long and multiple choice. The top 28 scores are selected for the academy. Those not in the top 28 are placed on a waiting list for openings prior to the start of the academy.
Testing sessions will be held in the academy classroom on Drury’s campus in Springfield (view map).
Pre-registration is required and a nonrefundable fee of $20 is due at the time of registration. This fee can be paid by cash, money order or cashier’s check (payable to “Drury University”). No personal checks will be accepted. Students must bring a valid Missouri driver’s license and black ink pen or a pencil to take the test.
