Steven D. Edwards is the President and CEO of CoxHealth. CoxHealth is a fully integrated healthcare system operating 6 hospitals serving southwest Missouri, with $1.6B in revenue and 12,100 employees. CoxHealth is consistently ranked in the top ten percentile in the nation in quality and safety measures. With over 162,543 days of care, Cox consistently ranks as the second or third largest hospital in the state (based upon days of care).

Edwards, since beginning his career at CoxHealth 28 years ago, has served in a number of roles including Executive Vice President/COO, Vice President of Clinical Services, Senior Vice President for Regional Services and Senior Vice President for Hospital Services.  In addition, he served as a grounds crew attendant and emergency department orderly during high school and college.

Prior to returning to CoxHealth in 1992, Mr. Edwards worked at Baylor University Medical Center, and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He is currently on the board of directors for The Healthy Living Alliance, Burrell Behavioral Health Center, the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, and is the past Chair of the Missouri Hospital Association.

Edwards received his undergraduate degree from Drury University and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a post-graduate fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
