Sarin Williams is the Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, where she directs the Drury Chorale and select Drury Singers, while also teaching Music History and other courses in the music major. Dr. Williams earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of Missouri-Kansas City under the direction of Drs. Ryan Board, Charles Robinson, and Robert Bode. She earned the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Missouri-Columbia and the Bachelor of Music Education degree at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
Dr. Williams is an active clinician, adjudicator, and educator with both choral music in general and vocal jazz in specific. She has presented recent sessions on “Teaching Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through Early New Orleans Jazz,” “Teaching Beginning Jazz Improvisation to non-Musicians,” and “Vocal Jazz Rehearsal Techniques” at regional and state conventions. Her articles on teaching jazz, vocal jazz techniques and repertoire, and diversity, equity, and inclusion related to the origins of jazz are widely published. Among other honors, Dr. Williams was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the Music Honors Society, in 2003.
