Michael Stine

Director, Jazz Studies

Michael Stine serves in the Department of Music at Drury University in the area of jazz studies. As a professional trombonist, Stine’s extensive career spans classical, commercial, and big band styles. He is currently a member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, The Missouri Jazz Orchestra, and previously performed as the lead trombonist for the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He has performed with artists such as Michael Feinstein, Johnny Mathis, Bobby Vinton, and The Temptations. Prior to his appointment at Drury, he spent 25 years as an elementary music specialist in the public school system. Stine holds degrees from the University of Arkansas and Missouri State University where he studied with Gerald Sloan and William Hartman.
