The Master in Athletic and Sports Administration (MASA) equips individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the fast-pasted and dynamic world of sports administration. This 10-course program provides a strong foundation in leadership, ethical decision-making, and the legal and operational aspects of athletic management.

Interdisciplinary coursework prepares individuals for professional contexts across the sports industry including professional sport organizations, intercollegiate athletics, sports agencies, player associations, local sports programs, recreation and fitness services, sports media, and related areas.

What is the time commitment to complete the degree?

The Master in Athletic and Sports Administration can be completed in two years. Most courses are offered in 8-week sessions. Internships are typically 16-week experiences. Six credit hours per semester is considered full time status as a graduate student. It is possible to enroll in additional hours, upon consultation with the program director.

Is it possible to transfer credit from another master’s program?

If you’ve started a master’s degree at another school, your transcript can be evaluated to determine if transfer credit (up to six hours) can be awarded. Schedule a call with the program director to learn more.

What is the class delivery format?

This program features a mix of 100% online and seated/blended courses.

Are there options for covering the cost of tuition?

This program qualifies for federal financial aid. Individuals seeking loan assistance are encouraged to complete the FAFSA and work with Drury’s Financial Aid Office. Drury also has a limited number of Graduate Assistant positions available. These positions cover the cost of tuition and are typically announced in the spring semester on Drury’s Human Resources page.

What are the admission requirements?

A bachelor’s degree with 3.0 cumulative GPA is required. GRE is not required.
Applications require two academic and/or professional recommendations and a personal statement.


Sports Leadership Certificate

The Sports Leadership Certificate is a stand-alone credential that features the core courses in the master’s degree program. Students earning this credential may decide to continue their studies and apply these 12-credit hours toward the 30-credit hour master’s degree.

The Sports Leadership Certificate may be applied toward Drury’s Master in Integrative Leadership, a customized master’s degree where students use stackable certificates to create a program of study that supports their professional goals.
