SPRINGFIELD, Mo., January 9, 2024 – Drury University has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Jeannette L. Musgrave Foundation, administered through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO), to support nursing scholarships and advance healthcare education. The announcement was part of a number of grants made during a celebration held at the O’Reilly Enterprise Center in the Judy Thompson Executive Conference Center on December 19, 2024.

Winter Kinne, President and CEO of Community Foundation of the Ozarks; Melanie Earl, Associate Vice President of Advancement of Drury University; Dr. Beth Harville, University Provost; and Rev. Emily Bowen, member of the Musgrave Foundation’s Grantmaking Advisory Committee.

“This grant will help fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in nursing, addressing a critical need for skilled healthcare professionals, not just in Springfield, but in southwest Missouri,” said Dr. Beth Harville, Drury University’s Provost. “The Musgrave Foundation and CFO’s support is instrumental in expanding educational access and preparing our students to make a meaningful impact in our community’s healthcare system.”

Drury University has recently expanded its health sciences offerings, including the development of a Physician Assistant program and a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree. These initiatives reflect Drury’s commitment to growing its healthcare education programs, building community partnerships, and preparing students for successful careers in healthcare fields.

“This funding not only supports nursing education but also reinforces Drury’s broader efforts to address healthcare workforce shortages in our region,” Dr. Harville added. “We are grateful to the Musgrave Foundation for investing in the future of healthcare and for supporting students who will go on to serve and improve wellness in our community.”
