Springfield, MO., Dec. 20, 2023 – Drury University welcomes John P. (Jack) Stack, president and CEO of SRC Holdings Corporation, as interim dean of the Breech School of Business Administration. He will begin his duties on January 1, 2024.

“Drury and the Breech School of Business has had a 150-year commitment of service to Springfield and the greater Ozarks region,” said Drury President John Beuerlein. “Jack Stack will challenge us to think more strategically about the many opportunities we have to prepare our students to expand our community impact!”

Stack was on Drury’s board of Trustees from 2004 to 2013 and currently serves on the search committee for the next president of Drury. A graduate of Elmhurst College, he came to SRC in 1979 as the plant manager of International Harvester (IH). In 1983, Stack and the SRC employees bought the company from IH and have turned it into what Inc. magazine has proclaimed “one of America’s most competitive small companies.” He is the author of the books, The Great Game of Business and A Stake in the Outcome (and now, Change the Game).

“We take great pride in welcoming Jack Stack as the interim dean of our business school,” said Chair of Drury Board of Trustees, Rita Baron. “A distinguished member of our community, he not only brings a wealth of professional experience but also a deep understanding of our local ethos. As a true pioneer, Jack is poised to lead our business school into a future of unprecedented success, setting the standard for excellence and inspiring the next generation of leaders from within our very own community. We look forward to a future of innovation, collaboration and success under his leadership.”

Stack will serve as interim dean for six months while a permanent dean is identified to begin in fall 2024.

“This is an opportunity for us to better understand the relationship between learning, decision-making and outcomes,” said Stack. “We are always looking for the possibilities of finding learning opportunities in uncertain environments. We believe there is a treasure chest of these opportunities in Drury, and we want to learn more about them.”

Stack will continue his role as president and CEO of SRC and work closely with former dean, Jeff Zimmerman, who has chosen to focus on teaching and assisting with the reaccreditation process for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
