SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Dec. 7, 2021 — In 2019, CARES Act funding allowed the deferment of loan payments for all students in the United States. The deferment provided critical relief for a number of borrowers during the pandemic and the resulting economic crisis. However, the program is set to expire on Jan. 31, 2022, meaning effective Feb. 1, 2022, borrowers will need to resume the appropriate loan payments to avoid defaulting on their student loans.

For anyone who has questions about this process, Drury University will hold a public informational session and Q&A with a financial aid and enrollment expert. The session is tonight, Dec. 7, from 4-6 p.m. in the Trustee Science Center’s Reed Auditorium, located at the northwest corner of Chestnut Expressway and Drury Lane. The session will also be available via zoom at https://druryuniversity.zoom.us/j/84762000637 (Meeting ID: 847 6200 0637). Tonight’s session will also provide information to prospective students who may be interested in federal grants and loans to assist with furthering their education.

Borrowers who have questions about specific payment amounts and terms should contact their lender directly. Lender information can be found at studentaid.gov.
