Greetings fellow and future IML members!
Welcome! As you may know, the Institute for Mature Leaners (IML) was created in the year 2000 for the benefit of older citizens in our area who are interested in continuing their education and meeting other people. It operates under the umbrella of Drury University which, through its generosity and support of continuing education, allows us, at no cost, the use of a meeting room on campus and hosts our website.
We meet every Tuesday from 2:00-3:00 in the lower level of Drury University’s Olin Library except for the months of January, August, and December. You are cordially invited to attend our meetings. Feel free to arrive a few minutes early and stay a few minutes afterwards if you would like to socialize with others who are in attendance.
If you are not already a member of the IML, you are welcome to attend one or two meetings to determine if you would like to join us. Membership is only $35 (for over 40 presentations!). As a member, you will also be given a parking pass good for use on Drury University’ campus, but the availability of a parking space is not guaranteed. Fortunately, there is ample parking in a parking lot only 1 block south of Olin Library as well as on the campus side streets. There is an elevator available in the library for those who would like to use it to get more comfortably from the main floor to our meeting room on the lower level. Hoping to see you at our next meeting, The IML Executive CommitteeThere are a variety of reasons why so many people join the IML.
Among them are:
Regardless of why you may join the IML, we look forward to you joining our group.
Our members come from a wide-variety of backgrounds. Among our members are housewives, career care-givers as well as folks from such fields of education, health care, the military, real estate and many other professions. Anyone can join and the more diverse the group, the more interesting the membership experience!
Parking is sometimes available on campus for members of the IML. A member’s $35 annual dues include a pass for parking which must be hung from the rearview mirror and easily visible from outside the car which brought the member to campus.
If a parking space can not be found on campus, IML members can park off campus in legal parking areas without using a Drury University parking tag. However, if a member wants to park on campus, he or she is should park in the numbered lots on campus (lettered lots are for residential students only).
If a non-member of IML wishes to park on campus to attend an IML offering, a temporary parking sticker can be obtained from the campus Security Office (lower level of Findlay Student Center) or in the Registration Office in Bay Hall.
If IML members have a Drury photo ID and a hang tag, they may also park in the gated lots (#4 by Weiser Gym and #6 on Benton Avenue across from Pearsons Hall). If the IML member has a Drury ID#, they may receive a photo ID card from the Security Office (lower level of Findlay Student Center) at a cost of $10.
Please remember that with your hang tag in place, you may park in any numbered lot. We recommend parking in Lot 1 or Lot 7 for convenience.

Please be sure to remove all valuables from the interior of your car and put them in your trunk. And don’t forget to close all the windows and lock your doors. While the campus and surround area around Drury University is safe it’s still a good idea to store your valuables.
