The majority of our freshmen and sophomores live in one of three residence halls: Smith, Sunderland, and Wallace. The halls are staffed by a professional live-in Hall Director or Graduate Assistant and a number of Resident Assistants (RAs).
Smith Hall was built in 1966 and houses approximately 152 residents in traditional suite-style arrangement: Two students per room, four students per suite, who share a bathroom. Smith Hall is the only building with a community kitchen

Drury’s apartment-style housing combines the ultimate in privacy with community living in Springfield’s historic Midtown area. Apartments and houses offer students an independent living environment with many of the services, conveniences, and security of residence hall living. All units are within walking distance of the academic buildings. All campus housing includes mini-blinds, access to laundry facilities, internet, and utilities, just like the residence halls.
Please note that full-time undergraduate students are eligible for apartment-style housing if they graduated from high school at least one full year prior to the anticipated move-in date.
Returning students select their own roommates, and then apartments are offered to groupings based on combined credits hours, unless there is a special application process noted. Roommate groups may be gender-inclusive or same-gender. It is typical for students with limited credit hours to live in the residence halls.

The Honors House is designed to offer students accepted into Drury’s Honors Program an opportunity to engage in discovery, exploration, creativity, and leadership through co-curricular experiences that deepen the honors experience. Honors House residents will plan social and cultural programming for the Honors Student Association, organize a service learning project for the year for the Honors Program, and develop their social media skills by promoting the Honors Program’s activities. Most significantly, living in the honors house will allow students to continue their engagement with ideas.

There are plenty of resources available on campus. Your best advocate is your Resident Assistant or Community Assistant (RACA)! RACAs are live-in staff members who provide you with resources on campus, plan fun events, and help students in emergency situations. We also have Residence Directors who live in the building who supervise the RACAs and provide advanced support. RDs are either full-time employees or graduate assistants who are very knowledgeable about Drury. You can meet the staff here!
