Drury University and Title I School Partner Application

Drury University > Graduate Studies > Master in Education Programs > Tuition Remission Opportunity > Drury University and Title I School Partner Application

Drury University’s School of Education and Child Development recognizes the important work of Dr. James Comer who created the Yale School Development Program. Dr. Comer believed that attention must be paid to educating the whole child. Along with academics, we strive to make sure the schools are equipped to deal with emotional intelligence, physical well-being, and all of the needs students have in our community. The spirit of the School Development Program is evident in Drury’s strong relationships with area schools. Drury is pleased to offer a tuition remission grant (limited availability) to eligible Master in Education (M.Ed.) students who work in Title I schools in the Springfield Public School district. These teachers are encouraged to apply Comer principles and research-based strategies to their classroom practices.

The Drury and Partner School Alliance Grant includes:

  • 50% reduction in tuition for graduate-level courses (does not cover fees)
  • Can be applied toward up to 12 credit hours per year (Aug. 1 – July 31)
  • For a period of up to three years of an individual’s enrollment in the M.Ed. program
  • Toward courses that apply toward a student’s degree (does not include certification)

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • Fully admitted into the Drury M.Ed. program
  • A student in good standing (i.e., not on probation)
  • Currently employed full-time at a Title I school in the Springfield Public School District
  • Awardees are expected to stay working at the Title I school for two years following completion of the degree

Expectations of awardees:

In return for the grant award from Drury, awardees will make themselves available for presentations in courses offered by Drury’s School of Education and Child Development. Awardees will share their experiences of working in a Title I school with students in CCPS evening education courses and/or members of Drury’s Student Teacher Association. When possible, awardees are encouraged to host a Drury practicum student.
