Communication and Organizational Leadership Certificate

The Communication and Organizational Leadership Certificate provides focused and applied exploration of communication dynamics, frameworks and theories in organizational settings to develop leaders who are prepared to address the challenges and opportunities of organizational life. This certificate serves both emerging leaders as well as experienced leaders who seek to enhance their skills and knowledge in communications. An undergraduate degree in communication is not required for admission, making the program accessible to a wide range of practitioners.

What can you expect?

  • You will develop an understanding of the informational and relational needs of organizational stakeholders, both internal and external, while examining the ethical implications of communication activities.
  • Coursework features case studies, experiences and readings that develop skill in crisis communications, as well as issue identification, so that organizations may proactively act to meet stakeholder needs.
  • The program examines mass communication and media theories to prepare leaders to shape and support strategies that generate meaningful community engagement.

Seeking a versatile credential?

This certificate features four courses in the Master of Arts in Communication program and isolates a focus of study essential for leading organizations in rapidly changing environments. What makes this program versatile?   

  • Complete the certificate as a stand-alone experience for knowledge and skill development in organizational communication.
  • Apply the certificate credits toward one of three graduate degrees at Drury.
  • Qualified Drury undergraduates may apply up to nine hours of graduate certificate concurrent credit toward the BA Organizational Leadership and Communication major or the BS Organizational Leadership Studies major.

Program highlights:

  • Start in August, finish in May (example).
  • The four sequential eight-week courses ensure students are enrolled in only one class at a time.
  • The certificate program is 100% online and features multimedia experiences to foster student engagement.
  • Tuition and fees are less than $6,000.
