This is an experiential-learning course that provides students with opportunities to practice music therapy techniques and interventions through both individual and group work. Each week will include practice sessions and opportunities to demonstrate students’ music therapy clinical skills. The skills covered in this semester include group leadership skills (cuing, rote teaching, eye contact, changes in dynamics, etc), drumming/percussion (hand drums, percussion, drum circle facilitation), and facilitation of a “rock band” ensemble (electric guitar, bass guitar, drum set), and movement to music (with and without props/instruments).
