This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the legislation and common law relevant to employers, employees, corporations, and society as a whole. It will explore the 52 court systems and examine both State and Federal laws and regulations. Students will focus on issues pertinent to CPA practices, as well as general legal principles in these areas. The curriculum will also cover the regulations necessary for enforcing these laws. Specifically, the course will address ethics and law in the following topics: Contracts for the Sale of Goods, Negotiable Instruments, Secured Transactions, Consumer Laws, Bankruptcy, Employment Law, Business Organizations, Environmental Law and Regulations, and, time permitting, general Estate and Family Law.
