MBA 603: Advanced Audit

This graduate-level course offers an in-depth exploration of the principles, practices, and current challenges in auditing and assurance services. Building on foundational knowledge, students will engage with advanced audit techniques, risk assessment models, regulatory frameworks, and the ethical and professional responsibilities of auditors in today’s complex business environment. Topics include audit planning and execution, statistical sampling, forensic auditing, internal control testing, and the application of data analytics in audit procedures. Emphasis is placed on recent developments in audit technology, such as the use of AI and machine learning, and on understanding the impact of these tools on audit quality and standards. Throughout the course, students will analyze real-world case studies, explore the auditor’s role in financial fraud prevention, and examine the influence of regulatory bodies, including PCAOB, IAASB, and AICPA, on audit standards. The course also covers recent advancements in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) assurance and provides insight into integrated audits of financial statements and IT controls. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess risk, make informed audit judgments, and contribute effectively to the integrity of financial reporting.
