Seniors 2020: Autumn Green

What Disney princess would you be? Autumn Green says, hands down, it’s Mulan.

“She didn’t need anybody to save her, she saved herself,” she says. “She showed bravery and courage.”

Green had her answer at the ready because she knew she might need it this fall. After graduation, the animation major was headed to Florida to take part in the Disney College Program, a fully-immersive work-study experience were participants attend classes on everything Disney related, work and live in the parks. But, COVID-19 had other plans; Disney cancelled the college program this semester.

Green didn’t let that set her back. She plans to reapply this spring, but in the meantime, she’s headed to South Korea.

“I’m really excited about it. I’ve always wanted to go to South Korea and teaching abroad is a great opportunity to do so,” she says, noting the work is through a company called TravelBud. “I will be teaching English as a foreign language. Starting in September, I will take online classes to obtain my TEFL certificate.”

When she returns, Green hopes the Disney program will give her a leg up when she applies for her dream job – working for Disney Animation Studios.

“I want to be a storyboard artist,” she says. “I want to work in preproduction and create storylines for TV shows and movies.

“Drury prepared me. The animation department is ahead of the curve and connected me with people in the industry from the very start. I’m ready for this.”
