SPRINGFIELD, Mo., December 18, 2020 — Drury University recognized Tony Bowers with the 2020 Distinguished Staff Service Award. The award is given to one staff member each year to acknowledge their continuous achievement and dedication to the university and its mission.
Bowers has been the director of Drury’s Law Enforcement Academy since 2005. In earning the award, Bowers was commended for building the Academy’s reputation throughout southwest Missouri. This reputation has led to excellent employment outcomes for academy graduates over the years, thanks in large part to the high curricular standards and experienced instructors. The academy requires 750 contact hours for students, well above the state requirement of 600 hours. Bowers not only leads, but also recruits for three academy classes per year and has worked tirelessly to build relationships and connections with his peers and within the industry.
Other staff members were also recognized for reaching milestone anniversaries in their service to Drury. Their combined service totals more than 95 years of dedication to a university community that is passionate about student success.
