Pronounced: gra-TA-had (third syllable rhymes with “mod” or “Todd”)

GRATAHAD was first mentioned at a faculty meeting to open the 2016-17 academic year, and then introduced to the Board of Trustees that October by Dr. Cloyd. He suggested that board members might be familiar with the ancient Aramaic term which he spelled out GRATAHAD, then abruptly admitted he was only joking and had made the word up himself to stand for Great Remarkable Affirming Things Are Happening At Drury!

And the rest, as they say, is history....

Dr. Cloyd has encouraged all of our faculty and staff, as well as alumni, to always accentuate the great things happening at Drury when they speak about the institution to their family, friends and neighbors. On any given day, there are so many great things happening on campus that don't necessarily make the newspaper or even your Facebook feed. We are all ambassadors for Drury, so let’s spread the great, remarkable, affirming news about the institution we all love.
