About the Nursing Program

The Health Science major is available as a dual degree program that must include both degrees in Nursing (ASN & BSN) from the Springfield Campus of Southwest Baptist University (SBU). Students earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Health Science from Drury will simultaneously earn an Associate of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SBU. The BS–Health Science major requires completion of all graduation requirements at both institutions, including the major requirements listed below, the Drury Fusion programD, the SBU DISCOVER programS, and any additional graduation requirements from both institutions (e.g., minimum number of 300- or 400-level credit hours).

To complete all three degrees in four years, you must work closely with the nursing advisor at Drury and the nursing advisor at SBU– Springfield to schedule courses each semester. Documentation of your progress is required for legal reasons, so you must complete all your paperwork each semester for both Drury and SBU. Enrollment in nursing courses at SBU requires general acceptance to SBU’s College of Health, so you should complete that process once you have completed or are officially enrolled in all three prerequisites (Biol 205/6/8). Once at Drury, courses must be completed at the Drury Main Campus (Day School) or the SBU Springfield Campus.

You will register for each course at its respective home (i.e., SBU for NUR and Drury for all others) throughout your tenure in the program, but you will pay all your tuition for both institutions at Drury. Your Drury fees and most SBU fees will be paid to Drury as well, but some fees will be paid to and professional items purchased from SBU (see SBU for details). Transfer/equivalency credits for Drury’s curriculum must be declared during your admissions process, and all course equivalencies must be approved at that time.
