Nonprofit Excellence Awards shine spotlight on community servants

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., February 19, 2018 — Drury University’s Center for Nonprofit Leadership will host the inaugural Southwest Missouri Nonprofit Excellence Awards on Thursday, March 1. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Oasis Inn and Convention Center.

“Nonprofit organizations and their hard-working employees do so much for our community. But they are rarely recognized for the huge impact they make on our communities,” says Dan Prater, a Drury instructor and director of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership. “We are thrilled to host this event and help shine the spotlight on them.”

The ceremony seeks to honor the nonprofit organizations that serve their communities in Springfield, and Greene, Christian, Dallas, Polk, and Webster counties. More than $10,000 in prizes will be awarded to winners in 10 categories including large, medium, and small organization of the year; CEO/executive director of the year; board member of the year; public awareness; innovation, and more. Revel Advertising will award a marketing package valued at $5,000 to the winner of one category. More information on the categories and nominees can be found at the event website.

A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the award ceremony will follow at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.Drury.edu/Nonprofit. Individual tickets are $45, and tickets for a table of 8 costs $350. Ticket sales close at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.

“This is a great way to honor them for excellence and for doing their work with the highest of standards,” Prater says.
