Dr. Clifton Petty appointed dean of the Breech School of Business Administration
SPRINGFIELD, Mo., August 31, 2020 — Drury University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Clifton D. Petty as dean of the Breech School of Business. Petty, a professor of management, has been a member of the Drury faculty since 1993. He has served as interim dean since spring 2019.
During the past 15 months under Petty’s leadership, the Breech School of Business has earned re-accreditation from AASCB International, launched the new MBA Ventures degree program and continued preparations for a new building, the Enterprise Center, which will break ground later this fall.
Well-respected by colleagues as well as students, Petty is an outstanding educator with real-world business experience. After graduating from Baylor University in 1984 with his MBA, he took a job with Texas Commerce Bank in Houston. He served as a corporate banker for several years before deciding to get his Ph.D. in Management and Organizational Behavior at the University of Houston. Petty holds an undergraduate degree in English.
“Clif is well known for his thoughtful and insightful approach to teaching strategy in the Breech School, as many hundreds of his former students who are now successful leaders in their own right can attest,” says Drury President Dr. Tim Cloyd. “He is exactly the right person for this role.”
“I am grateful to continue collaborating with my outstanding faculty colleagues and alumni as the dean of the Breech School,” Petty says. “While there is much uncertainty right now in the business world – and the world at large – we have the privlege of helping our students understand what’s happening and why, so they discover for themselves where they can make an impact in their careers as business leaders, and in life.”
