Drury MBA program launches real-time video classroom format in August

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., May 7, 2019 — Drury University’s highly regarded MBA program is about to become more accessible.

Beginning in August 2019, the fully accredited 30 credit hour master’s degree will be available entirely online. The new format goes beyond the typical online offering, however, as students and professors “meet” for class via synchronous video conferencing, blending the convenience of distance learning with highly engaging and personal classroom experiences.

A classroom in the cloud

Students will use Zoom meeting technology to interact with professors, classmates, and guest speakers in real time from their home or office, ensuring they can participate in the valuable dialogue, networking, and teamwork that are the program’s hallmarks.

“Professors will be able to see your face and know whether or not you understand the material, just like in the classroom,” says Dr. Robin Soster, director of Drury’s MBA program. “Face-to-face interactivity is what we do best at Drury, and we’re extremely excited to begin offering our MBA in this format. I think students are going to love it.”

While online MBA programs are common, synchronous video options are less so, especially in the Midwest. According to Best Colleges, of the Top 10 online MBA programs in the country only four offer a 100 percent online synchronous option.

“We’re eager to take this step and continue Drury’s tradition of being a regional leader in MBA programs,” Soster says. “Our faculty are excited because this is going to allow them to do what they do best as teachers, and it’s going to be excellent for student outcomes.”

Registration is underway. Interested students can apply now to claim a spot as class sizes are capped at 30 participants. Upon admission to the program, students will be contacted about an equipment kit and technology support from Drury staff to ensure their time is spent focused on learning not troubleshooting.

About the Drury MBA program

MBA courses are offered in 8-week sessions, with classes meeting in the evenings from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Central time. Coursework is focused on applied problem-solving via case studies and collaborative team projects. The program culminates with a nine-day trip to an international business destination at no additional cost to the student (transportation, lodging, and most meals are covered).

Drury classes are comprised of professionals from various businesses and nonprofit organizations providing students with a dynamic class experience where they not only learn from expert faculty, but from each other.

Students without a business background can enroll in a five-week “MBA Boot Camp” designed to provide a foundation of knowledge in economics, finance, marketing, statistics, accounting and management skills.

The new synchronous option will be offered in addition to the traditional on campus MBA courses. For more information, including application requirements, please visit the program’s website or contact our admissions specialist at (417) 873-7530 or grad@drury.edu.
