Reps. Quade and Kelly to speak at Meador Center’s series, “Women, Their Rights, and Nothing Less”
SPRINGFIELD, Mo., October 31, 2019 — Drury University’s Meador Center for Politics & Citizenship will host two distinguished members of the Missouri House of Representatives, Crystal Quade and Hannah Kelly, for a panel discussion at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 13.
The event is part of the Center’s speaker series commemorating 100 years of women’s suffrage, “Women, Their Rights, and Nothing Less.” The event will be held in Lay Hall Auditorium. The two will speak on the topic of “Women Leaders in Missouri Government.” The event will build conversation about women in politics, the obstacles, constraints, and opportunities faced by women in the public sphere, told through the lens of their own experiences.
Representative Kelly, a Republican, represents part of Wright and Webster County, District 141, in the Missouri House. She has served for the past three years and is passionate about agriculture and rural health care. She serves as Chair of the Joint Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect, and Chair of the Subcommittee on Appropriations - Agriculture, Conservation, Natural Resources, and Economic Development. She also serves on the committees for Agriculture Policy, Budget, Rules and Administrative Oversight, Special Committee on Urban Issues, and the Conference Committee on Budget.
Representative Quade, a Democrat, represents Greene County’s District 132 in the Missouri House. She was elected to her first term in office in November 2016 and re-elected in 2018. She was also elected by her caucus to serve as the House Minority Floor Leader for the 100th General Assembly. Quade is as a board member for Better Life in Recovery, is a Democratic State Committeewoman and is a member of the League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri. She also works with the Springfield, Missouri Community Focus Report, Civic Engagement Team. She was recently named one of 2019’s Most Influential Women by the Springfield Business Journal.
