Drury University names Marilyn D. Harris to top human resources post

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., May 20, 2019 — Drury University is pleased to announce the appointment of Marilyn D. Harris as Director, Human Resources. Harris begins her new duties at Drury on June 3. She succeeds Scotti Siebert, who is retiring after 13 years leading the university’s human resources department.

Harris has more than 20 years’ experience in the human resources field, working for a variety of industries from healthcare to government organizations. She comes to Drury from the Monarch Fire Protection District in Chesterfield, where she has been the Human Resources Director since 2014. Prior to that, she held roles at MedLab and at SpecialCare Hospital Management in the St. Louis area.

Harris has extensive experience in the human resources field, including areas of strategic planning, performance management, budgeting, recruiting top talent, legal requirements and regulations, employee relations, salary administration, performance review analysis, third-party contracts, and more.

“The human resources role within higher education has become increasingly important as decisions made significantly impact the well-being and happiness of our institution’s employees, students and stakeholders,” said Drury president Dr. Tim Cloyd. “Marilyn has the breadth and depth of experience needed to ensure we maintain world-class faculty and staff.”

During her time at the Monarch Fire Protection District, Harris has helped lead all aspects of hiring, recruiting, arbitration, compliance, and benefits administration, as well as day-to-day staffing and employee relations issues. In her 12 years with SpecialCare Hospital Management, Harris overhauled a number of processes and programs that increased efficiency, aided leadership in strategic decision-making, and improved recruitment, hiring and performance management.

Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University and earned a master’s degree in human resources management from Lindenwood University. She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management.
