C-Street Art Gallery features 4th annual study abroad student exhibition in October
SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Sept. 30, 2019 — Drury University’s C-Street Art Gallery announces the 4th Annual Study Abroad Competitive on exhibit during the month of October. The opening reception will be held at 5 p.m., Friday October 4. The exhibit runs through Oct. 25.
“This show is special because there is always something new to discover each year,” says Rebecca Miller, associate professor of art.
The annual competitive invites Drury students who have studied abroad during the previous year to enter photographs for this exhibition. Submitted photos are compiled into a slideshow with only the location listed. From there, a panel of individuals select the photographs for the show based on individual perspective, concept, variety, quality, and composition.

The panel included arts administration practicum students along with Miller; Dr. Tom Russo, associate dean – international programs; and Jody Pritt, executive director of international support services.
“Students who study abroad and immerse themselves in the culture can have some amazing experiences, and hopefully have a camera with them to capture the memories,” Miller says. “With the variety of programs we offer, the photographs are a way of sharing those experiences and diverse cultures with the Springfield community.”
The student photographs will be entered into a silent auction that will last for the duration of the exhibit. Winning bids will be notified at the close of the show and all proceeds from the auction support study abroad scholarships. For a reasonable price, gallery patrons can own one of these beautiful photographs from all over the world.
