Drury’s first online social fundraising challenge begins Thursday, May 10
SPRINGFIELD, Mo., May 9, 2018 —Drury University’s first interactive social day of giving – The Power of One Challenge – begins May 10, as a component of the larger 531 Challenge happening throughout the month of May.
The social fundraising blitz will take place over the course of 531 minutes, or about 9 hours, starting at 8 a.m. Drury alumni, friends, students, faculty, staff and community are all invited to participate. Besides donating, supporters can register as advocates and post videos challenging others to give, create their own matching challenges, or simply share content from the campaign to raise visibility for the university.

“This type of interactive campaign can be a lot of fun,” says Melanie Earl-Replogle, director of annual giving and stewardship. “The platform we’re using, GiveCampus, makes it easy to give, and donors and alumni can get competitive and creative! I’ve already seen friends reconnecting and challenging each other. I can’t wait to see how much fun everyone has with this, and what the impact will be for Drury students.”
Drury President Dr. Tim Cloyd is also getting in on the action by personally offering a $5 match per donor (of any amount), up to $2,000. If that match is maxed out, then President Cloyd – a longtime John Lennon fan – has pledged to record a video singing a favorite Beatles song with a few surprise guest musicians.
“This is an incredible opportunity for alumni who can’t necessarily travel to campus or engage in meetings to support the university and urge their friends and classmates to do so, too,” Earl-Replogle says. “We’re aiming for participation from all 50 states and beyond.
