2020 New Student Move-In / New Student Orientation

Due to COVID-19 there will be some adjustments to our Move-In process.
Updates and additional information will be coming by email from the office of New Student Programs.

New First Year Students moving into Residence Halls

Due to COVID-19 we must make some changes to our move-in process to help ensure the health and safety of our students and families. We will have a sign-up process for move-in this year. All new students will need to complete the online sign-up form and choose a day/time to move your belongings into the residence halls. You will need to choose a move-in date/time different from your suitemate(s) to ensure your families do not interact on move-in day. You will be contacted if your time slot conflicts with others.

We will start move-in on Saturday, August 15. Students will be given a four-hour time slot to move their belongings into their rooms. Please note that there will not be food service available until Sunday for lunch. We recommend local students move in on Saturday and stay that night at their homes and return to campus on Sunday. You should plan to arrive within the first hour of your time block in order to check in and receive your keys.

All students and guests will check in at the Findlay Student Center Ballroom where everyone will have their temperature taken. We recommend everyone check their temperature before traveling to campus. If anyone has a temperature of 100.4 or higher at check-in they will not be allowed to move in at that time. If the student has a temperature of 100.4 or higher they will be asked to quarantine for a period of 14 days before returning to campus to move in.  Students will need to contact their professors to make arrangements for classes during this time. All students and guests will be required to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing while moving belongings in and while in the residence hall. Only two guests per student will be allowed in the residence hall at a time. At check-in, students and guests will be given stickers to indicate their designated time slot as well as their room keys and student IDs. Please wear your stickers in a prominent location while moving in. If you did not get your photo taken at Fusion First Day for your student ID, you will be able to do so at this time.

After check-in, you will proceed to the designated parking lot to unload your vehicle. Please unload your vehicle and move it from this area ASAP so other students can unload. Please do NOT leave your vehicle in the unloading lots. We recommend bringing no more than 2 vehicles. There will be designated entrances and exit routes for each building. Once your vehicle(s) is unloaded, you may park in any legally designated parking spot on campus, with the exception of lots B and C which are for unloading only. Lot 7 will offer the most spillover parking.

Two guests will be allowed into the residence halls per student during their move-in time slot. Once the time expires, we ask all guests to leave campus.  Lunch will be available on Sunday – please indicate on your sign-up sheet if you plan to eat lunch.  Student meal plans will take effect for dinner on Sunday, August 16.

Students who have already moved in will meet with their Orientation groups Sunday afternoon and then they will have dinner together. We will have some orientation activities that evening. Orientation will officially start at noon on Monday, August 17 and run through Wednesday, August 19.

The deadline to sign up for move-in is Monday, August 10 at noon.
