Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Drury University

Dr. Andrew Campbell currently serves as Director of Choirs for Lakeland Behavioral Health Services at both of their Springfield locations.  In the spring of 2019 he began his service as choir director as part of Lakeland’s Music Therapy program and meets with their adolescent aged residents weekly.  Previously he taught at Southwest Baptist University for twelve years where he served as Professor of Music and taught courses such as Sightsinging and Eartraining, Basic Conducting, Secondary Choral Repertoire, Vocal Pedagogy, Applied Voice, and Applied Conducting.  In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Campbell was the conductor of SBU’s Concert Choir, the Bolivar Community Chorus, and conductor for all of the musical and opera productions.

Campbell now serves as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Drury University where he will direct the Drury Singers, Drury Chorale, Drury Chamber Singers, and the Springfield-Drury Community Chorus.  The Springfield-Drury Community Chorus is new to campus as of Fall of 2022.  Campbell will also teach music courses such as Apprenticeship Conducting and Applied Voice.

Campbell received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Baptist University with an emphasis in Music Industry and completed his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees with an emphasis in Choral Conducting from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  He is married to fellow music educator Alicia McGeorge Campbell who teaches at Ozark Junior High in Ozark, Missouri.  The two live in downtown Springfield with their beloved dogs Nancy, Evie, and Zeke.
