Dean's Student Advisory Council (DSAC)

The Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC) of the College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences is a group of undergraduate student representatives who serve in an advisory role to the Dean of the College.

Mission of DSAC: to serve as liaisons for the student population of the college, creating an open dialogue between administration and the CHASS student body, and providing advice to the Dean on decisions and issues of importance to CHASS students. These would include (but are not limited to):

  • Academic programming: members will help the administration and faculty to better understand the student perspective on courses and curricula. 
  • Recruitment and retention: members provide advice on how to better bring students to Drury and to CHASS, and on how to retain them once they arrive. 
  • Building a CHASS Community: members provide advice on event planning that seeks to bring students (and faculty) together as a CHASS community. 
  • Ongoing Concerns: members should bring issues to the Dean's attention of concern to the student body of the college. 

Length of service: each member shall serve a term of one year. 

Membership of DSAC: each department within CHASS nominates two outstanding students to serve as members, totaling 12 members overall.

Barton, DSAC

Jessie Barton 

  • Class: Senior
  • Majors: Spanish and Communication Studies
  • Minor: Business Administration
  • Academic Interests: Working in a team, leadership development 

Andrea Bazzoli 

  • Class: Junior
  • Majors: Psychology, Sociology 
  • Interests: Andrea moved to Drury in August 2015, after spending two years at the department of philosophy, education, and psychology at the University of Verona (Northeastern Italy) where he was studying Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Currently, he is engaged in a cross-cultural research project with his past university and other European scholars, aiming to investigate some new trends in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. When he is not swimming or studying, Andrea loves walking, reading novels, listening to music (classic, preferably) and shopping.  

Tulley Beard

  • Class: Junior
  • Majors: Arts Administration, Graphic Design and Design Arts
  • Interests: I am passionate about equality for all so I am a dedicated officer of Drury Allies. During the year, I work at National Avenue Christian Church as the Youth Ministry Intern. I enjoy visiting with friends, watching movies, and going to see plays. Kindness is contagious!

Meredith Caldwell

Meredith Caldwell (DSAC Recording Secretary)

  • Class: Sophomore
  • Majors: Criminology and Psychology
  • Extracurricular Activities: I enjoy spending time with friends and serving as a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. 

Victoria Deren 

  • Class: Sophomore
  • Majors: English and Business Management 
  • Extracurricular Activities: I enjoy spending time knitting, reading, any type of puzzle, but I mostly love Grey's Anatomy.

Christina Faoro  

  • Class: Junior
  • Majors: History, Political Science
  • Minors: French, Middle East Studies
  • Extracurricular Activities: Christina is a Resident Assistant for the 2015-2016 school year and she thoroughly enjoys it. In her free time, she loves reading, visiting museums, and exploring.

Alex Johnson

  • Minor: Religion
  • Interests: Alex has special interest in the topics of justice and human rights. He intends to move forward into either graduate school or law school. Eventually he intends to become a state legislator. 

Ryan Prewitt

  • Class: Senior
  • Majors: Spanish, Mathematics
  • Minor: Spanish
  • Interests: Ryan seeks to attend graduate studies in English literature. He is extremely passionate about music, though mainly as a listener. He loves the humanities and finds the most enriching experiences he's had within them.

Emma-Quin Smith  

  • Class: Senior
  • Major: American Political Studies
  • Interests: Emma-Quin's academic interests revolve around environmental policy, domestic drug policy, and policies pertaining to social welfare and access to education in urban areas. In her free time she can be found on the front porch of the Humanities House reading, coloring, or eating pizza. Emma-Quin is the Vice President of Philanthropy for Pi Beta Phi, and an avid attendee of Pizza and Politics.
Thomas DSAC

Zach Thomas

  • Class: Junior
  • Majors: International Political Studies, Criminology
  • Interests: He is a member of Student Union Board, Student Government Association, and Sigma Pi Fraternity. In his free time, he enjoys movies, traveling, and running. He completed his 3rd marathon at the beginning of this past December.
