Catherine Blunk, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of French

Catherine Blunk, Ph.D. became a member of the Drury faculty in 2009. She earned her master’s degree and doctorate in French from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She lived in Europe for several years, working and earning graduate degrees in France, Belgium, and Switzerland.

Dr. Blunk specializes in medieval French literature and wrote her dissertation on the poetics of the tournament in late medieval romance and chronicle. Her current research interests center on the relationship between text, image, and mise en page in late medieval manuscripts.

Dr. Blunk enjoys teaching all levels of French language, culture, and literature. She particularly values the time she spends outside the classroom with her students, especially at the French conversation table and accompanying them on study abroad trips.
