Mid-Missouri Alumni Club
Welcome to the Drury Columbia & Jefferson City (Mid-Missouri) Alumni Club, a part of the Drury Alumni Association. Our goal is to bring together alumni that live and/or work in Columbia & Jefferson City (Mid-Missouri) through opportunities to make valuable connections like social gatherings, game watches, community service and professional networking events. We strive to foster a spirit of fellowship, participate in a culture of growth, and promote interaction as well as advance the mission of Drury University and the Alumni Association.
We hope you will consider participating in our alumni events or volunteering your time to further connect alumni and classmates to our alma mater in Columbia & Jefferson City (Mid-Missouri) and the surrounding communities.
Owen (class of 2000) was just recently named the Executive Director of Renew Missouri, a not-for-profit dedicated to creating opportunities for renewable energy and energy
Before that position, James worked for the Office of Administration (OA) in order to establish the Contract Oversight Office for the State. Prior to this, James served as an Associate Circuit Judge for Webster County where he handled criminal and civil dockets and helped the court to establish a Mental Health Treatment Court. Before that, he was in private practice handling probate and estate planning matters for a law firm in Springfield. James primarily served as General Counsel to both the Greene County and Webster County Public Administrator offices. Previous to this practice, James served as a law clerk at the Missouri Court of Appeals, a Policy Fellow for the Kansas Governor’s office, and the Executive Director of the University of Kansas’ Graduate and Professional Association.
James obtained his law degree from the University of Kansas as well as his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Political Science from Drury University in Springfield. He is originally from Elkland, Missouri where his family still operates a cattle farm. James is actively involved with NAMI of Missouri as well as the Boone County and Springfield Bar Associations. He also writes a weekly film column for the Columbia Daily-Tribune. Currently, James lives with his wife Claire in Columbia.
