Drury University will be hosting the 10th annual Soak Up Springfield this year. This is an event that will introduce over 400 incoming first-year students as well as returning students, faculty and staff to various businesses and nonprofits in the Springfield area. Drury has a student body of over 1,500 students and we would like to invite your organization to promote what you have to offer to hundreds of our students, many of which are brand new to the area. All money raised from this event will go to support community engagement efforts and leadership development programming.
- Attendance at this event grows every year. We work hard to market it across campus in a variety of ways including social media and targeted invitations to freshmen and campus groups.
- In addition to promoting products and recruiting customers and volunteers, you are also welcome to share any job or internship opportunities. Many students are searching for jobs in the early fall, so this is a great opportunity to recruit new employees or interns.
- We collaborate with Drury's Student Union Board (SUB) and the Panther Passport Program to increase student attendance at this event.
- This event will cost $100 for all businesses and nonprofit organizations. This event is a fundraising event for the Community Outreach and Leadership Development Office. We will be using these funds to implement leadership and service programming.
All giveaways and coupons should be given freely; students should not have to register or give their contact information to receive it. Various students may wish to receive information from your business. Please only collect email addresses.
A small space is provided behind your reserved table along with 2 chairs (extra giveaways and materials are to be stored behind the table space). Items that do not fit within reserved table space are strongly discouraged and must be approved in advance because space is limited. An electrical outlet may be available upon advance request, but quantity is limited and will be offered to organizations on a first come, first serve basis. Please bring your own extension cords.
You may unload your vehicle on Drury Lane near the FSC Circle Drive during set-up. After unloading, you will need to immediately move your car to the Summit Parking Lot 7 (located off of Summit Street). There will be no charge to park in the lot and tickets will not be issued. Set-up begins at 9:30am on September 6th. Please do not arrive before 9:30 a.m. Upon your arrival at the FSC Circle Drive, you will check-in with a staff member from the office of Community Outreach and Leadership Development in front of the Findlay Student Center. Here is a link to a map of the campus, where building #23 is the Findlay Student Center.
