PEER 2 PEER: The Drury Mentoring Program
What is the program?
The Peer2Peer Mentoring Program is new program at Drury University designed to help first generation college students navigate the college landscape. Incoming first generation students will be matched with an upperclassmen mentor that has been selected for the program. Mentors and mentees will be matched based on similar interests and common academic disciplines. This program will help integrate first year students into the Drury culture and campus community. It creates connections across campus for these students and offers them better access to campus resources. Mentors will also be able to acclimate their mentee students to the city of Springfield. Mentors and mentees will meet for various activities (lunches, outings in the community, events, etc.) and be in contact on a regular basis to help ensure the success of mentees first year on campus.
How can I apply to be a mentor?
The application process for the 2017-2018 academic year is currently closed. The application process will reopen in the Spring of 2018 for the following academic year. You can find the application below!
How can I become a participant in the program?
Incoming first year and transfer students that have noted on their application that they are a first generation student will be contacted the summer before their first semester. At that time they will have the option to enroll in the program. Currently the program is only accepting mentees that identify as first generation students. If you are accepted into the program as a mentee, use the link below to view the current list of mentors in the program and select your top choices.
