Drury Impact Project Partner 2018: Zeta Tau Alpha

By Hannah Bunch on February 1, 2018

What is the Drury Impact Project?

The Drury Impact Project is the partnership between the office of Community Outreach and Leadership Development at Drury and a student organization with a philanthropic cause it supports for one semester. This year our office revamped the Drury Impact Project to help promote the amazing things Drury student organizations are doing for the community. We will be promoting a student organization through our social media to highlight the work they are doing with their philanthropy. Our first Drury Impact Partner we selected is with the Drury Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA).

Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer touches many lives. They have been “thinking pink” for 25 years. The fight against breast cancer is more than a ribbon, it’s their mission. By spreading the message of breast cancer education and awareness, ZTA sisters are determined to diminish this disease. The money raised through ZTA’s philanthropy events goes to the ZTA Foundation. The ZTA Foundation then uses these funds to support Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. The ZTA Foundation is making a huge impact on Breast Cancer Awareness.

Mission Statement:

"The Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation funds scholarships, educational and leadership development programming, and encourages everyone to Think Pink® with breast cancer education and awareness efforts, including partnerships with Bright Pink®, the NFL® and the American Cancer Society®. "

The ladies of ZTA consistently raise money and awareness throughout the year. They serve lemonade while handing out Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons, they host the largest queso competition on campus, and kiss cancer away. These are only a few examples of what ZTA does throughout the year. Here are their upcoming events this Spring semester that are serving Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. ZTA would love to see you there!

Zeta Philanthropy Events this year:

Candygrams for Cancer: February 5th-9th from 11 am-12 pm outside the Commons

Zeta Tau Alpha will be selling candygrams, or bundles of suckers, for $1 each. Candygrams can be purchased for a "special someone" or just a friend, and can include a nice note. ZTA will notify people receiving candygrams about picking them up on Valentine's Day.

Chipotle Dine-out: February 19th from 4-8 pm

ZTA has partnered with Chipotle to raise money for the ZTA Foundation. On February 19th from 4-8 pm, Chipotle will donate 50% of any order that mentions ZTA to their philanthropy.

Big Man On Campus: March 6th starting at 8:30 pm in Clara Thompson

BMOC is a male beauty pageant hosted by ZTA to support their philanthropy. Contestants will compete in a variety of categories, and the winner will be determined by a panel of judges. BMOC will be a night filled with entertainment, laughter, and talent. There will be raffles available, as well as a spotlight on breast cancer through a guest speaker. Proceeds will be donated to the ZTA Foundation to support Breast Cancer Awareness and Education.

Chick-fil-A Dine-out: April 10th from 5-8 pm

ZTA has partnered with Chick-fil-A to raise money for the ZTA Foundation. On April 10th from 5-8 pm, Chick-fil-A will donate 20% of any order that mentions ZTA to their philanthropy. Zeta Tau Alpha members will also be greeting guests, refilling beverages, and collecting tips that will serve as a donation to the ZTA Foundation.

This semester the goal of this partnership is to increase Drury students and faculty’s support to Zeta Tau Alpha and Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. We hope you get involved with ZTA and their philanthropy events as they work to diminish the disease.
