Saturday | October 24, 2015

Sign up by Wednesday, October 21st

Join us for President's Day of Service to honor President Manuel's dedication to service and community engagement. This day also intentionally coincides with Make a Difference Day, which is the largest national day of service. Millions of volunteers around the country unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others.

To sign up for any of these projects you can stop by our office in FSC 117 or email us at

After you sign up, you will receive an email with all the necessary information regarding each project. If you sign up for a project, it is important that you follow through!

8:00AM - 10:00AM

Participants can volunteer or participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk that supports the American Cancer Society. Check in begins at 7:30AM and volunteers can get up to 3 hours of community service at this opportunity. The 5K walk begins at 9:00AM. This annual walk is a celebration of survivorship; an occasion to express hope and our shared determination to make this breast cancer's last century. Betty Coe Manual will be personally participating in the walk as she does every year. When expressing interest please specify if you would like to volunteer or participate in the walk, volunteers will likely be route marshals or cheering on the walkers.

10:00AM - 12:00PM

Participants can volunteer at Boyd Elementary School with the Midtown Neighborhood Association and Boyd PTA. Drury is located in the Midtown Neighborhood, so this project is not only conveniently within walking distance, but it is also a great opportunity for the Drury community to engage with the surrounding neighborhood. If you volunteer at this project, you will be helping the PTA cleanup, organize, and provide maintenance to the inside and outside of the Boyd Elementary School.

11:00AM - 1:00PM

Participants can volunteer with Sammy's Window and help support this year's All Collegiate Service Project. As part of the annual All-Collegiate Service Project, Drury partners with four area colleges to support one cause. This year, we are focusing on foster care, and Sammy's Window was chosen as the main beneficiary. Volunteers at this project will help organize donations so that they can give them to foster children in need.

2:00PM - 4:00PM

Participants can volunteer right here on Drury's campus at the greenhouse located just south of the Trustee Science Center. This year, we are partnering with Drury's Biology Department and Springfield Community Gardens to dedicate our on-campus garden and greenhouse as a community space for the Midtown Neighborhood. Parts of this onsite greenhouse will be re-purposed as a garden for the local community to collect food from, volunteer time, and learn about growing their own produce. Volunteers at this project will be preparing the greenhouse for the winter.

Sign up by Wednesday, Oct 21 via email or stopping by our office in FSC 117. See you on October 24!
