Heifer Global Gateway Trip, October 10-11
Each semester, we offer an overnight immersion experience at Heifer International’s ranch in Perryville, Arkansas. The Heifer Ranch promotes sustainable solutions to global hunger, poverty, and environmental degradation. The Global Gateway experience “creates an existence in which nothing-shelter, food, water, or cooking fuel – can be taken for granted.” (More Information)
Attendance is on a first-come, first-serve basis. To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and student ID by September 19.
Stomp Out Hunger Shoe Drive benefiting Sole FoodJoin Drury University, Missouri State, Ozarks Technical College, Evangel and Southwest Baptist University in making a difference in the global community through the Stomp Out Hunger Shoe Drive benefiting Sole Food. This is the second year for this event that brings together area colleges to collect used shoes to donate to Sole Food. Sole Food is a local project that partners with and benefits Shoeman Water Projects and Friends Against Hunger to reduce hunger locally and internationally one shoe at a time.
Through Sole Food, one pair of shoes provides three meals, supports job creation in underdeveloped countries, supports clean water initiatives through Shoeman Water Project, and is worn by someone who needs them! Who knew one pair of shoes could do so much? All types of shoes are accepted as long as there are no holes!
To donate, bring your shoes to Findlay Student Center 117 or place them in one of the designated bins located across campus. The deadline to donate shoes is October 17th.To learn how Sole Food turns your donated shoes into resources to help fight hunger, visit their website.
