Aigina, Greece: Service Learning

Set on the beautiful island of Aigina, this program offers students the opportunity to work with members of the local community on an impact project.

We will be engaging in a series of projects and interactions with community and business leaders in Greece.  Our goal is to gain a broader view of how social responsibility is experienced in the global community.   We have four segments of focus:  Community, Global, Sustainability, and Cultural Immersion.  We will learn about each of these categories by meeting with leaders in the community.  We will then take action to be personally responsible for addressing identified problems.

The course explores globalization, assesses social and environmental issues, and investigates models for a sustainable future. Drawing on diverse voices, traditions and disciplines, the course helps students integrate personal and professional strategies to become reflective and engaged global citizens. In this course we will identify and explore our role in addressing global challenges.  We will consider responsibility both personally and at corporate levels.  We will discuss how global challenges require claiming responsibility. We will have an opportunity to actively engage in a service-learning project working with residents of Aigina to make a social impact.
