Drury University Soccer Milestones
Dec. 21, 1990 Drury President Dr. John E. Moore, Jr. and athletic director Dr. Bruce Harger
announce the addition of soccer to the college's athletic program.
Jan. 30, 1991 John Senkosky named head coach of the Drury soccer program (men)
April 22, 1991 Drury College announces its intention to move its athletic program
from NAIA to NCAA-II, thus beginning its dual compliance period (NAIA & NCAA-II) that fall.
Sept. 7, 1991 Drury men play their first game beating Lincoln University, 3-0
Sept. 12, 1991 Drury women play their first game losing to Park College, 10-0
Sept. 21, 1991 Drury women win their first game beating William Woods College, 2-0
Nov. 6, 1991 Drury's men team qualifies for their first-ever NAIA District 16
playoff game, losing to Rockhurst College in the first round.
Nov. 3, 1992 Drury women's team qualifies for their first-ever NAIA District
16 playoff game, losing to William Woods College.
Aug. 1, 1994 Drury begins active membership in good standing with the
NCAA-II in all sports. No longer dual membership (NAIA). All teams
eligible for NCAA-II championship play for the 1994-95 year.
Sept. 4, 1994 Rick Burns begins tenure as the women's head coach
with 5-1 victory over Incarnate Word of Texas
May 8, 1997 Drury College announces its intention to move its soccer
program (men and women) from NCAA-II to NCAA-I effective August 1, 1997.
Aug. 1, 1997 Drury's men and women's soccer team begin active
membership in good standing with NCAA-I and are eligible for
postseason play for the 1999-00 academic year.
Nov. 11, 1998 Drury men join the Western Athletic Conference
Jan. 21, 1999 Drury women join the Missouri Valley Conference
July 6, 1999 Ann Cook is named the new head coach of the women's
soccer program.
Jan. 24, 2001 Christopher Baker is named the new head coach of the
women's soccer program.
