Pre-Occupational Therapy Program

Drury University > Pre-Med & Pre-Health Sciences Programs > Pre-Occupational Therapy Program

Occupational therapists are skilled professionals involved in helping individuals cope with the effects of injury, disease and disability, and to regain independence in their daily lives. OTs enter the health field with a master’s or a doctoral degree. Emphasis in education is placed on the study of human growth and development in addition to the specific social, emotional and physiological components of injury, disease and disability.

Students wishing to apply to a school of occupational therapy must complete their undergraduate degree from Drury University. For those OT programs requiring the GRE, the test should be completed no more than five years prior to applying.

Prerequisite coursework may vary from school to school; students should contact their schools of interest to ensure they are completing the required courses for their specific programs. However, the courses listed below should apply to most graduate programs in OT.

CPR Certification

GRE
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a measurement of the general skills acquired throughout one’s education. It is offered electronically at various testing centers year-round. The GRE is taken by prospective graduate students and is a supplement to one’s application materials. It includes three sections: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing. Some schools or departments may require the General Test, a Subject Test or both.
