About the Theme Year

The theme of the 2001-2002 Convocation series was aptly called “Origins.” The series focus, while somewhat specific, allowed for a broad interpretation, including the origins of humans, the origins of art, the origins of music, and more.

Convocation is a tradition that has driven the Drury University community to think critically, discuss openly, and learn unequivocally for more than 60 years. Since the beginning of the new millennium, each Convo series has maintained a particular theme and has drawn nation's leading scientists, authors, historians, sociologists, theologians and lecturers to the Drury campus.
