Springfield-Drury Girls Choir

Springfield-Drury Girls Choir (SDGC) was founded in the fall of 2012 for girls in grades 2 through 6 in Springfield and the surrounding area. This choir is conducted by Drury’s director of music education, Mark Lawley. Beginning in the fall of 2014, there will be two choirs: “SDGC Song Birds” will be a choir of girls in 2nd and 3rd grade and will be conducted by music specialist, Molly Faulker. Mr. Lawley will conduct SDGC, a choir of 4th through 6th graders. The girls have performed at Pittsburg State University, The Gillioz Theatre as part of a Martin Luther King Celebration, St. Louis Cardinals Game, and “Heritage of Hymns” Concert with Springfield Symphony Orchestra, as well as their three-concert series every year.

SDGC is accompanied by Heidi Schwindt, who is the choral director at Nixa Junior High. Drury music education students serve as assistants in all rehearsals and performances, often gaining conducting experience.
