Dr. Ioana Popescu, originally from Romania, completed her B.S. and M.S. at the University of Bucharest. Dr. Popescu came to the United States via the University of Cincinnati, where she completed her doctoral studies in the area of plant population genetics. During her time at the University of Cincinnati, she developed a great interest in teaching botany and undertook the pursuit of enlighten college students of how important plants are to human life, as well as life on Earth in general. In pursuit of this, Dr. Popescu held two visiting faculty positions across the country: Whitworth College in Spokane WA (1999-2000), and Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL (2000-2001).
At Drury, Dr. Popescu is teaching Botany and Cell Biology, and looking forward to developing new plant classes and research.
