Assurance of Learning & Assessment

Assurance of Learning & Assessment

Overview
The Breech School of Business Administration has a strong heritage of teaching excellence and of a strong focus on learning outcomes. The School's formal assessment program was launched in 1993, and Breech faculty and students have been involved in a continuous process of learning assessment and improvement since that time.

Today the Breech Assurance of Learning & Assessment (AOL&A) Committee coordinates the School's assessment program. This Committee is composed of six Breech faculty members and the MBA program director. The AOL&A Committee reviews learning goals and objectives, rubrics (measures), and assessment data. The Committee also coordinates the review of assessment data and the development of action plans for learning improvements.

Individuals or committees working in isolation cannot sustain a strong assessment program. Continuous improvements in learning require the full engagement of faculty and students. The Breech assessment program was founded on the principle of faculty and student engagement, and we have recently redoubled our commitment to this fundamental principle. The AOL&A Committee is working to open new channels of assessment communication, improve our working measures and protocols, and strengthen an already established culture of assessment and assurance of learning.
