Dr. Raymond Patton came to Drury in 2011as an Assistant Professor of History specializing in Modern European and World History. Dr. Patton received a PhD in History (2011) from the University of Michigan with his dissertation "Screamed Poetry: Rock in Poland's Last Decade of Communism". He completed a MA in Russian and East European Studies (2005) at the University of Michigan, and BA degrees in History and Philosophy from the University of Georgia (2003).

Besides courses in Modern Europe and World History, Dr. Patton also enjoys creating and teaching transnational interdisciplinary courses on topics like the African Diaspora, Music and Resistance, and Consumerism. He is currently working on a book manuscript on punk rock and other alternative music genres in Poland and in transnational context at the end of the Cold War. Beyond the academy, Dr. Patton enjoys music (listening, playing, and collecting), gardening, bicycling, cooking, and fine food and drink.
