Student Organization Safety
Drury University supports and encourages students leaders to keep their members and guests safe by following these safety guidelines. Through these student organization safety initiatives, Drury student organizations support and encourage a wide variety of organized out-of-class activities and urges students to get involved, become leaders, and make a difference in their community. Your student organization has a variety of safety resources available, including:

Risk Management Strategies
The wide variety of interests and activities represented by recognized student organizations at Drury University have an equally wide variety of potential risks and liabilities associated with them. All Student Organizations are required as a condition of registration by the Office of Student Involvement to conduct their activities in such a manner to maximize safety and health, and to attempt to prevent accidents, injuries, illnesses, or other losses.

Drury University Student Organizations should make every reasonable effort to protect the health and safety of members of the community and the public from any hazards incidental to operations of the university. For most routine organization activities such as regular meetings or social gatherings, members are solely responsible for their own actions, and any loss, damage, or other liability incurred as a result of those actions.

The Office of Student Involvement offers a wide variety of programs, service and resources designed to assist and support student organizations risk management efforts and develop leadership skills among students.

Crisis Management Plan Development
Students should review and keep a copy of the Crisis Management Plan and be familiar with it. Every member should be aware that the student leader will be in charge of every emergency. Input from members who have more expertise or insight is necessary, however, all final decisions rest with the student leader. In the event that the student leader is absent, the next ranking leader assumes control. A Crisis Management Plan should be a part of the organization's Risk Management Education Program.
