Men put on women's shoes to fight sexual violence

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Aug. 30, 2010 — Drury men will put on high heels, wedges and pink flip-flops on Tuesday, Aug. 31, for the second annual Walk the Lane in Her Shoes event. Male students walk Drury Lane in women’s shoes to raise awareness of sexual violence. The event begins at 8 p.m.

Walk the Lane in Her Shoes is part of Drury University’s Sexual Assault Awareness Week. Activities include multiple self-defense classes for Drury students, faculty and staff. In addition, featured speakers during the week will discuss healthy relationships and dating. On Wednesday, several non-profits such as The Victim Center, The Family Violence Center and Violence Free Campuses will be at Drury as part of Soak Up Springfield.

The Panhellenic Council and the Inter-Fraternity Council at Drury University co-sponsor the event.
