Drury University to celebrate swim teams with a parade on Monday, April 19

WHO: The Drury University swimming and diving teams.

WHAT: A parade and celebration to honor the Drury men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams on their back-to-back dual national championships won in March at the Division II meet in Canton, Ohio. The Central High School Kilties will join the Drury community in the parade to honor the two teams.

WHEN: Monday, April 19. Parade begins at 3:30 p.m. Autograph session/ice cream celebration is from 4-5 p.m.

WHERE: Beginning at Cox North Hospital the parade will travel south on Jefferson Street, turn east on Bob Barker Blvd. and then north on Drury Lane. The parade will culminate in the Findlay Student Center fountain circle where the teams will sign autographs and share ice cream with their classmates, teachers and fans. 

WHY: Drury picked up its eighth men's title and seventh women's NCAA titles on March 13 at the Division II swimming championships in Canton, Ohio. The Panthers now have swept both titles in 1999, 2007, 2009 and 2010.

The sixth consecutive national championship for the Drury men ranks second all-time among NCAA-II programs. The DU women won for the second straight year and third time in the last four years.

In addition, Drury men’s sophomore swimmer Jun Han Kim was named National Men's Swimmer of the Year.
