Earth Day Celebration Comes to Drury

SPRINGFIELD,, April 16, 2009 — Drury University will celebrate Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22. The Celebration will be held in the Findlay Student Center Circle from 4-6 p.m. Activity booths will be set up and sponsored by community and student groups.

The all-day event will kick off with the Drury Green '09 Video Contest in the Findlay Student Center Commons at noon. All video entries will be shown. First and second place winners will be announced as well as the winner of the popular vote.

There will be giveaways during the entire Earth Day celebration and the Student Union Board will have an event on Sunderland Field. Food and beverages will be provided along with various activities, including free tire pressure checks, Earth Day birthday cake, hamburger sliders and musical performances by live bands. Other sponsor booths include Tint Masters of Springfield, Think Green!, Coffee Ethic, and the President's Council on Sustainability. Free, reusable shopping bags will be given to the first 50 people who trade in 5 plastic shopping bags. Other giveaways include free tickets to the Moxie and free t-shirts featuring the new “It's Your Ability. Sustainability” logo along with prizes and gift cards.

The day's activities will end with the Rock and Recycle Celebration and Benefit Concert at Nathan P. Murphys at 7 p.m. This event is for all ages; all of the proceeds will benefit Drury's Think Green! organization.
