Alternative Breaks Program

Spring Alternative Break Trip
Date of Trips: March 16, 2013 - March 24, 2013
Trips (there are two available):

Option 1:
  • Location: Denver, CO
    • Service Project: working with African refugees through the African Community Center
    • Free Day activity: Skiing at Winter Park Ski Resort
Option 2:
  • Location: Maryville, TN
    • Service Project: Working with Cherokee Native Americans through the organization Once Upon a Time
    • Free Day Activity: White Water rafting

Participant eligibility: You must be a full-time, day, undergraduate student to attend this trip.

Fee: $125 covers everything except for food on the way there and on the way back.

Non-refundable deposit to be paid with application is $50.  This deposit will go towards your fee.  Applications will not be eligible without this deposit.  The rest of the fee must be paid by March 8th.

Fundraising: Fundraising will occur to try to reduce the $125 fee.  All participants who participate in the fundraising efforts will acquire a pro-rated reduction in their remaining fee based on money raised through fundraising efforts and the amount of time they spent fundraising.

Mission:
To encourage an increased understanding of social and environmental issues by engaging student in service while creating opportunities for the development of leadership and active citizenship skills.

The Drury Alternative Break Program organizes educational service trips for Drury full time, day time students.  All trips have a fee that covers a portion of the trip while the rest of the fee is covered by fundraising and sponsorship from Drury Volunteer Corps and Student Government Association.  

  • Applications for the Fall Alternative Break trip are due September 26th by 5:00 p.m.
  • Applications for the Spring Alternative Break trip are due November 28th by 5:00 p.m.
