China Summer 2010 Study Abroad Program

Beijing, China

     This course examines the impact of culture on the development of the current business environment in China. Students will complete an in-depth study on a region of China, identifying the historical, social, economic, and political background contributing to the present day culture context of the citizens reflected in current international management practices.

     Students’ will visit business enterprises and talk with business professionals about their experiences. With Beijing as home base students will take short trips to explore other areas of China.  Possible visits include Shanghi, X’ian, and Tianjin.  Touring businesses and cultural sites in these cities will provide more background to enrich discussion about the implications of cultural context on management challenges faced by companies operating in this area.     

Dates of Travel: May 16 – June 6, 2010
Program Fee*: $5,760 per student
Tuition for 3 credit hours + $20 fee: $614 per student
Personal Expenses**: $700 per student

Total Approximate Cost: $7,074 per student

Non-refundable Deposit: $500 due October 1, 2009
Second Non-refundable Deposit: $500 due November 1, 2009
Third Non-refundable Deposit: $1500 due December 1, 2009
Fourth Non-refundable Deposit: $1500 due February 1, 2010
Remaining Balance due by March 1, 2010 (refund policy explained in program description handout)

* Program fee includes airfare; housing; trips to Shanghi, X’ian, and Tianjin; international health insurance, visa, and faculty program costs.

**Personal expenses include passport fee, some meals, local transportation, and personal supplies. This figure may vary depending on individual students’ spending habits and preferences.
